Uncontainable Happiness, April 27, 2023

The girls could not contain their happiness. They had the summer to prepare for High School; until then, their immaturity would rule as they danced and squealed aloud about driving, dating, and later curfews - subjects that cause a parent to long for the newborn they once held.

Despite the warm evening air, I felt a chill run down my spine as I recalled my high school days being a cluster of I wish I hadn't, and I wish I had moments. But then again, I am older now, and the girls don't know what I know, so I remain tight-lipped, allowing them to dream dreams only an adolescent girl can and celebrate the coming of age as I am confident I once did.
