Trust is a gift typically extended at the beginning of a relationship without the initial need to earn it. When that trust is broken, it takes a lifetime to regain. Unfortunately, broken trust requires hanging a prominent sign on what was once a secure gate as a reminder to avoid repeating the same mistake twice.
